Paulo on the controversy that occurred between the years 2010 and 2012 around the book Hunts Pedrinho (1933), by Monteiro Lobato. This work was denounced by the movement of black question as unfit for distribution in schools without a note that contextualize the time of its production and the racist content. The analyzed corpus is composed of five stories, selected from a group of 15 that were about the case in the period between October 2010 and September 2012. The theoretical framework of this study is anchored primarily in research on racism, ideology and discourse from the linguist Teun van Dijk (1987, 1991; 1995; 2000; 2002; 2008; 2009; 2012a; 2012b; 2012c; 2015), in dialogue with sociologists Kabengele Munanga (1999) and Jacques d 'Adesky (2009), among others. The method of approach used is a qualitative-interpretive, with analysis targeted the categories of social cognitive context and discourse listed by van Dijk. Research has shown that still occurs to maintain a preferred setting for the display of ethnic issues as a problem, from the manipulation of context and ratification in the discourse of ideological strategies of positive self-presentation and other negative performance, observed and validated in both the global approach, as in the local news.
- ItemAs rosas no jardim de Zula : um estudo dos imaginários sociodiscursivos femininos no teatro documentário(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2018-03-05) Chaves, Mariana Pinter; Alves Junior, Mário Acrisio; Almeida, Júlia Maria Costa de; Ferraz, Daniel de Mello; Lysardo-Dias, DyliaThe main aim of this research is to analyze the enunciative dimension of the contemporary documental scene with focus on the scenic individual’s discourse through a transdisciplinary approach based on the Semiolinguistic Theory, on the Social Genre Studies and on studies of Documentary Theatre. Specifically, our intention was to research which imaginary socio-discursive feminine pervade the spectacle The Roses in Zula’s Garden and in what way the linguageer configuration elabores them. By proposing a study which takes into account the socio-communicative dimension of the theatrical discourse, we utilized a theory result of a link between semiolinguistic concepts proposed by Charaudeau (2001; 2005; 2007; 2008; 2014; 2016) and by Cordeiro (2005) and Machado (2015; 2016a; 2016b). Furthermore, we utilize theories of Sarti (2004), Brah (2006) and Safiotti (2011), in order to reflect about the Social Genre and Feminism as well as contributions by Boal (2009; 2011), Rancière (2012), Mendes (2012) and Giordano (2014), among others as regards the Theatrical Studies. Hypothetically we consider it is probable that the situation of theatrical-documental communication would act as a report area of imagination socially crystallized about the female individuals and, therefore, the resistance to the social inequalities suffered by them. Moreover, we find it possible that the input of the life narrative of ordinary individuals in the contemporary scene would work such as a strategy to attract spectators and that they would arise as reality put into the scene. For this purpose, we proceeded to a descriptive and a qualitative methodology which provided the scenic-contractual delineation, the identification and interpretation of the socio-discursive in discursive organizations prevalent in this act of language. The results of the analysis led us to disagree the hypothesis about the use of reality on the scenic sphere, because, despite being historical documents, they are at the service of the dramaturgic construction of the play, so, they do not breach with the fictional statute of the Scenic Art communication contract. However, attempting to better understand the emerging subjectivities at the contemporary theatrical context, we were, unexpectedly, led to purpose the use of syntagmas character-actor and spect-actoremancipated to the subjective instances that use the reality effects on stage, including life narratives. On the other hand, we validated the hypothesis that the discourses of those theatrical female individuals produce socio-discursive imaginaries able to criticize and question the current genre domination in our machist-patriarchal society.

- ItemEthos discursivo e gênero canção : a construção das imagens de si e do outro nas canções de os afro-sambas(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2013-09-13) Nogueira, Mayara de Oliveira; Almeida, Júlia Maria Costa de; Vidon, Luciano Novaes; Nascimento, Jarbas VargasThis dissertation aims to discuss the constitution of the discursive ethos, relating that to the enunciation scenes and to the interdiscourse, in eight “afrosambas” which belong to the LP of the same name, as a result of the partnership between Vinícius de Moraes and Baden Powell in the 1960s. Such songs present in common the cult of mystical entities related to the religions of African roots, and, in particular way, they display love, sadness in different features. In order to do so, the paradigm in which we are sustained is the one of the French Discourse Analysis, in an approach which is aligned with the Mainguenau’s one (1977, 2005, 2007). We decided to work with this theoretical framework in that such approach corresponds to a methodology of studying the discourse which considers the socio-historical conditions which made it possible, the baseline premise of the present research, which has as a main objective: observe how the ethos/ ethés are built; analyze the songs of the 1996 LP composed by the musicians, having the notions of interdiscourse, enunciation scenes and discursive ethos as the basis of the analysis. From the analysis of each afro- samba, the results point to a construction of images shed in the discourse closely linked not only to the cultural/ diasporic universe of the black people but also to the loving universe typically from Vinícius de Moraes. Considering the interdiscursive signs, it is possible to realize that the afrosambas were built from the existence and the recognition of the Other. On the other hand, the enunciation scenes which were built present as a privileged discourse field the religious domain from an loving sensual experience, whose pitiful tone contributed to the construction of a sad, melancholic, sentimental enunciator.
- ItemGênero, discurso e poder em três traduções brasileiras de Um bonde chamado desejo(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2017-08-31) Magalhães, Micaela Rodrigues de Souza Fraga de; Ferraz, Daniel; Almeida, Júlia Maria Costa de; Tomazi, Micheline Mattedi; Zaidan, Junia Claudia Santana de MattosA Streetcar Named Desire, a play written by Tennessee Williams, is considered one of the most important canons in the history of American Theater. His text was broadly played, adapted, translated and is frequently quoted in mainstream audiovisual works. In Brazil, the play - with two original texts in English - was translated by Pedreira (1976), Nikitin (2004), and ViégasFaria (2008). Through an interdisciplinary approach based on Language Studies and on Translation Studies, this research aims to elaborate a comparative analysis on the construction of the character Blanche DuBois in both translations. Focusing on discoursive marks related to the female discourse, it will analyze the ways in which this character diverges from social conventions that she was expected to follow as a woman, and her incessant pursuit to reconfigure herself - from the perspective of each translation. The study will rely on the analytical tools provided by the sociocognitive model of van Dijk (2010, 2012a, 2012b, 2012c), which considers the relation among society, cognition and discourse when creating its analysis categories. An investigation that accounts for the social dimension of language as well as the individual aspects that influence the existing relation between text production and reception, provides us with tools that contribute to explaining the structural differences, therefore the possible ideological differences, to be investigated in the translations of Williams’ work in our country. Finally, it is then concluded that the literary discourse, as the political or advertising ones, can be considered a conducive environment for the analysis of ideologies present in the enunciation of the social actors and actresses who take part in his production. Art, as in translation, is not ideologically neutral, and the image of the woman depicted in novels and plays written by men have a lot to say regarding the construction of stereotypes that hamper the feminine existence.
- ItemMapeando a ciberviolência de gênero : uma cartografia dos ataques políticos direcionados à jornalista Patrícia Campos Mello no Twitter(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2024-04-10) Oliveira, Jéssica do Nascimento; Lima, Fabio Luiz Malini de ; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2405-9109 ; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8284809605215682 ; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0565-2572; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8034043589093516 ; Almeida, Júlia Maria Costa de ; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2430-4116 ; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3648370916765504 ; Oliveira, Ivana Bentes ; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2859-2012 ; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1298675801318069This dissertation investigates the dynamics and strategies of hate speech directed at journalist Patrícia Campos Mello on Twitter, with a specific focus on gender-based cyberviolence. Using theoretical foundations of Digital Discourse Analysis by Paveau (2013; 2017; 2021), Network Discourse Analysis by Malini (2016; 2017), and the concept of Platformization by Poell, Nieborg and Van Dijck (2020), the study aims to analyze comments (tweets and retweets) using Ford software from the Image and Cyberculture Studies Laboratory (Labic) at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (Ufes). Six main categories of discursive gender cyberviolence intensified by individuals known as "haters" were identified: (C1) Discrediting due to political belief, (C2) Discrediting due to ethics/morals, (C3) Professional discrediting, (C4) Sexual insinuation, (C5) Insinuation of insanity and (C6) Insinuation of racism. It is noted, therefore, that these speeches not only have an impact on the public sphere, but also severely compromise the professional integrity of journalists, underlining the urgent need for effective strategies to confront these phenomena

- ItemRepresentações do Brasil e do brasileiro no discurso do jornal espanhol El País no contexto Pré-Copa FIFA de 2014(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2017-02-22) Barrere, Luana Lisboa; Almeida, Júlia Maria Costa de; Carmelino, Ana Cristina; Ardenghi, Ana Carolina VilelaThe discourse production made by the international media about the political scenario in Brazil has been at stake lately, due to the high sport event, which was taking place in the country, since the Confederation Cup, in 2013, and the World Cup, in 2014, until the Olympics Games, in 2016, which gave a wide visibility to the country overseas. This research aims to analyze opinion articles from the journal El País published between 2013 and 2014, in order observe the discursive structures present due to representations and stereotypes from Brazil and its citizens in the context of political manifestations in that period. For that, we are going to use the presumptions of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), specially the works made by Van Dijk (2008; 2012) based on dialogue with scholars from Social Science (BOURDIEU, 1989), Social Psychology (MOSCOVICI, 1978; 2004), Cultural Studies (HALL, 2000; 2011) and other authors which contribute to the constitution of a social-historical panorama of Brazil (ZWEIG, 2013; AGASSIZ, 1975; RAEDERS, 1988) etc., characterizing a multidisciplinary bias from the Linguistics. We found out on Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) our approach, since, while critical-historical perspective has aim to examine the relations between discourse and power, this will allow us to argue a possible intergroup polarization among Europeans and Brazilians, and consequently, the (re) production of unfavorable representations of Brazil and Brazilians, the existence of a hierarchical relation among cultures, from the Spanish journalistic speech.
- ItemSujeitos de papel : um estudo bakhtiniano da construção de subjetividade promovida pela revista Capricho(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2015-07-06) Ferreira, Olivaldo da Silva Marques; Vidon, Luciano Novaes; Lima, Sandra Mara Moraes; Almeida, Júlia Maria Costa de; Stieg, VanildoThis dissertation draws upon texts published in Capricho magazine to discuss the role of print media in the subjective constitution of its readers under the bakhtinian perspective. It rescues, through bibliographic research, the emergence, development and the main aspects of women's press, with a focus on that produced in Brazil. In this context, Capricho magazine is analyzed from its first launch up to contemporary editions with a focus on those editions published in 2013. As a result it is perceived that the presumed readers of the magazine are heterosexual teenage girls (13-17 years old), familiar to virtual genres; interested in many trends such as fashion, beauty (fitness, makeup, nails, hair), Brazilian, American and English pop culture (music, books, films, TV shows and celebrities); beginning (or already iniciated) in love and sexual life; belonging to upper classes. The analysis of "Group Therapy" (Terapia de Grupo) section led us to identify a discursive genre originating from a redesign done by the magazine as of the activities carried out in therapeutic encounters popularly known as "group therapy". Moreover, it has demonstrated that the space created in (and by) magazine promotes social interaction among participants with the propagation not only of a discourse aligned with capitalism´s official ideology manifested in the production of texts aimed at self-help, but also of a consumer, classist, individualistic and liberal vision about the world and about the subjects.
- ItemTradução como ponte plástica : hibridismo e identidade em verbetes da Wikipédia(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2013-10-18) Ribeiro, Patrick de Rezende; Almeida, Júlia Maria Costa de; DePaula, Lillian Virginia Franklin; Frota, Maria Paula; Lins, Maria da Penha PereiraThis paper presents the concepts of translation broadly, breaking with the conception that focuses on the transformation of a message in a certain language code into another, in which a merely literal equivalence is searched. This work has its theoretical basis around the postcolonial and deconstructionist theories focusing on Bhabha (2010), Hall (2006), Derrida (2006), Ottoni (2005), Orlandi (2008) and Niranjana (2011), which leads us to the possibility of rethinking the role of translation, understanding it as plastic bridges, a tool to deconstruct dominant paradigms and, consequently, retell stories and histories. Thus, it is aimed to think of translation in its plasticity, promoting bridges that express intersections among languages, showing the position of the human beings as the result of the crossing of several subjects. As the empirical object of analysis, three entries from the Wikipedia website were chosen. All of them present traces of Brazilian identity and it is aimed to investigate the nuances in the translation processes that can contribute to the way that Brazil is represented both by local and foreign communities, leading to the formation of stereotypes. This part of the work is also based on the stereoscopic reading and the Theory of Relevance proposed by Sperber & Wilson (2001). This research becomes relevant once study a corpus unexplored academically but socially in vogue, since the website Wikipedia is among the ten most accessed worldwide, with over 300 million unique access, besides the importance of being a source of collective construction of knowledge, reinventing the concept of encyclopedia. The research also becomes relevant from the perspective of translation studies once it discusses about the importance of the translator as tool for identity formation in different levels. It is also part of this study propose the hybrid concept of translation-review as a trend of the contemporary multilingual world.
- ItemUm estudo de "frases engraçadas" que versam sobre bebida : construção de sentido e ethos(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2012-03-16) Trentin, Raquel Camargo; Carmelino, Ana Cristina; Almeida, Júlia Maria Costa de; Ferreira, Luiz AntônioThis research seeks to analyze the construction of meaning in comedy "funny sentences" available on the web site Os vigaristas that has as its theme the alcohol. It starts with the hypothesis that humor is built on interaction, serving a purpose beyond making people laugh. The purpose is also to discuss the constitution of the ethos of the drunk and its relation to the discursive purpose of humor in the sentences. Regarding the construction of meaning, we use the theoretical premise of the textual linguistic in a interactionist and sociocognitive base, in which, textual meaning occurs through previous knowledge allocated in the memory and cognitive procedures, such as the inference and the language from explicit elements in the text. From this perspective, the work of Van Dijk (2001, 2002), Koch (2003, 2006, 2008, 2010) and Marcuschi (2008) are mainly adopted. In respect to humor, this is taken as a meaningful effect in the texts produced by humorous techniques that works as a "trigger", the outbreak of comedy. So, we must take into consideration especially the studies of Bergson (1900), Freud (1905), Raskin (1985), Propp (1976), Travaglia (1990, 1992, 1998), Possenti (1998, 2010), among others. As for the ethos, we consider the postulates of the current rhetoric, which conceives discourse as an effective act of the speaker in his authority. At the moment he takes the floor, in a rhetorical context, he also makes a presentation of himself and the other in speech, even if he does not expressly speak of his qualities in order to achieve membership of the target audience. To that end, the concepts exposed by Reboul (2004), Perelman and Olbrechts-Tyteca (2005), Meyer (2007), Amossy (2008) and Ferreira (2010) are relevant. According to the analyzes made, it was found that humor, in "funny sentences" takes place by activation of prior knowledge and through humorous techniques, including inversion, the most recurrent one. Regarding the purpose of humor in the sentences, they aim the liberation, subverting the discourse of the Ministry of Health. The purpose of humor, here, is supported by the positive ethos of the drunkard, who is shown as if the ingestion of alcohol was positive.
- ItemUma análise do discurso publicitário em tempos de espetáculo : cenografia e ethos do Itaú na campanha #issomudaomundo(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2015-08-19) Leite, Rossana Martins Furtado; Almeida, Júlia Maria Costa de; Benites, Sonia Aparecida Lopes; Vidon, Luciano NovaesConsidering that advertising moves the whole society and its subjects and interfer in behavior, identities and cultures, our research aims to understand how the advertising discourse relies on the interdiscourse to compose spectacularized scenographies in order to give a socially responsible institutional ethos to companies such as banco Itaú, which is seen through the analysis of a corpus from #issomudaomundo advertising campaign, in circulation from 2013 to 2015. For methodological reasons, the analysis of this study was divided according to the pillars suggested by the advertising campaign: education, culture and urban mobility. The theoretical perspective used is based on the French Discourse Analysis, in general, with dialogues between theories that make up this discipline, and also with those that served or still serve as theoretical support. The cutting to deepen the analysis is based on the categories of scenography and ethos by Dominique Maingueneau; the work also includes a sociological view of post-modern society, based on theories by M. Sodré (2006), N. Canclini (2010) and Z. Bauman (2001,2009). The results show us that the institutional publicitary discourse has been using scenographies carefully elaborated to create ads associated with ethical socially-responsible worlds which long for touching emotionally consumers who share the same yearnings, consolidating a citizen institutional ethos to the brand 'Itaú' and hiding the commercial / financial senses that are constitutive of it.
