Resumo
This dissertation investigates the dynamics and strategies of hate speech directed at journalist Patrícia Campos Mello on Twitter, with a specific focus on gender-based cyberviolence. Using theoretical foundations of Digital Discourse Analysis by Paveau (2013; 2017; 2021), Network Discourse Analysis by Malini (2016; 2017), and the concept of Platformization by Poell, Nieborg and Van Dijck (2020), the study aims to analyze comments (tweets and retweets) using Ford software from the Image and Cyberculture Studies Laboratory (Labic) at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (Ufes). Six main categories of discursive gender cyberviolence intensified by individuals known as "haters" were identified: (C1) Discrediting due to political belief, (C2) Discrediting due to ethics/morals, (C3) Professional discrediting, (C4) Sexual insinuation, (C5) Insinuation of insanity and (C6) Insinuation of racism. It is noted, therefore, that these speeches not only have an impact on the public sphere, but also severely compromise the professional integrity of journalists, underlining the urgent need for effective strategies to confront these phenomena
