This dissertation investigated the relationship between physical activity and levels of depression, anxiety, and stress in adults, considering sociodemographic variables such as gender, age group, and income. A questionnaire with 21 items was applied to assess the three constructs, in addition to collecting demographic data and information on physical activity practice. The sample was analyzed using descriptive statistics, group comparison tests, correlation analysis, and linear regression models, with emphasis on robust regression (HuberT) to control for the influence of outliers and asymmetric residuals. The results indicated that regular physical activity showed a statistically significant negative association with depression scores, acting as a protective factor for mental health. Relevant differences were also found in depression, anxiety, and stress levels according to gender, age, and income, suggesting that sociodemographic factors modulate the effects of physical activity. Model comparison indicated that robust regression is more suitable than ordinary least squares (OLS), despite slightly lower R² values, as it provides more consistent estimates under non-normal residual conditions. In conclusion, physical activity has a beneficial impact on mental health, but this effect must be interpreted considering sociodemographic conditions, highlighting the importance of public policies and interventions tailored to different population profiles
