Resumo
This research aims to conduct a case study that articulates the themes of violence against women and feminist appropriations of cyberspace. The desire that moved it was to shed light on the exceptions to the rule, that is, media experiences where women who report violence have their protagonism respected by journalistic discourse and, thus, contribute to qualifying the public debate about the misogyny that structures capitalist society, hegemonic journalism and digital platforms. The main objective is to understand, based on a case study, the discourses triggered about violence against women, within the scope of the visibility given to the topic by a major media outlet with a specialized editorial line, in order to subsidize reflections on the possibilities of territorializations of cyberspace by feminist journalism and its role as part of the support networks of women who report violence, especially in peripheral territories. The corpus consists of two videos published by journalist Cristina Fibe, from Universa/UOL, about the denunciation of institutional violence carried out by a black woman from the periphery of Vitória/ES and accepted by the extension and research program Fordan/UFES. The incident was widely reported by state and national media and, within the scope of this research, is called the “Quieta o Facho” case, using the expression uttered by the accused prosecutor, who, in a court hearing about alimony, said that the former couple should quiet the torch and get back together, since they had five daughters together. The research uses: documentary analysis, to treat official data on violence against women and literature about social media; discourse analysis, on the narratives of the prosecutor and the journalist in question; and content analysis, to categorize the comments posted by internet users on the two videos. The data and discussions raised during the empirical research showed that the differentiated approach of feminist journalism exercised by the columnist influenced the interactions between internet users who expressed themselves on social media, promoting interactions that were mostly favorable to the author of the complaint of institutional violence, providing a feminist microterritorialization in cyberspace
