Resumo
The microorganisms sulfate reducers (MRS) are a diverse group of bacteria and archaea and the heterotrophic anaerobic growth, reduce sulfates and produce hydrogen sulfide (H2S) can be detected through the presence of precipitates in the liquid color. Many efforts are being directed towards the development of rapid methods and simplified enumeration MRS that enable a more rapid diagnosis of Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC). The main objective of this study was to evaluate a new method for detection and enumeration of MRS in samples of the oil and gas. The experiment was designed based on the comparison between the microbial count method (28 days incubation) and the new proposed method (07 days incubation). The monitoring of microbial growth occurred during 06 months (May 2011 to October 2011) in eight sampling points that include upstream and downstream pipelines (pipeline, aqueduct, pipeline) drains and storage tanks of water produced. These points was assessed water quality through physico-chemical variables (APHA, 2005) and growth of MRS and BANHT by microbiological methods in samples of produced water, oil and waste deposited in the ducts. The results of the analyzes statistics for enumeration of MRS total heterotrophic bacteria and anaerobic bacteria (BANHT) showed a significant advantage in reducing the processing time of the sample using the new proposed method (7 days) in comparison with the traditional method (28 days) allowing the achievement of more rapid diagnosis. Therefore, the use of this new detection method in the oil and gas contribute to the implementation of preventive measures and / or corrective actions in a more immediate, thus the control of these microorganisms enable the economy of resources to avoid problems that result in biocorrosion environmental pollution, loss of production and can affect human health through the production of H2S.
