Resumo
Objective: To analyze the levels of perceived stress among women living in the city of Vitoria, and its association with socioeconomic, clinical and life experience characteristics. Methodology: this is a cross-sectional, population-based study carried out in the city of Vitória, Espírito Santo. The sample consisted of 1086 women aged 18 years or over who had or had an intimate partner in the last 24 months. Independent variables: socioeconomic, behavioral and clinical characteristics. The outcome was perceived stress levels, assessed using the instrument entitled Perceived Stress Scale. All analyzes were performed using the Stata statistical program version 17.0. Results: younger women, those who have no religion, those who receive financial assistance from the government, those who do not practice physical activity, those who smoke or have smoked throughout their lives and have some comorbidity, have higher stress averages. An association was also found between the perception of stress and exposure to sexual abuse during childhood, and violence by an intimate partner during life and during the period of the Covid-19 pandemic. Conclusion: there is a significant association between the perception of stress and socioenonic, behavioral and clinical characteristics, as well as with exposure to sexual abuse during childhood, intimate partner violence, during life and during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic.
