dc.description.abstractThis research has as its central subject the literature produced by people living outside their countries. It is the result of the effort of the authors living in this condition to give visibility to their experiences from the diaspora. We emphasize the identity issues built during the traverse, which confirms the research of Stuart Hall (2006), when he establishes the identity as a “moving celebration”, fragmented and not stable and the fact that these migratory movements stimulate the creation of the “third space” (BHABHA, 1998) or the “in-between” as well (BHABHA, 1998; SANTIAGO, 2000). A space considered as introducable, split and hybridized, originated from the cultural difference and that serves as stimulus to artistic productions, for instance, the literature. This research points out the literature produced in the United States and written in English by two authors, the Haitian Edwidge Danticat, with Brother, I’m Dying, and the other one is the Puertorican Judith Ortiz Cofer, with Call me María, as a way to add value and incentive the attainment of a qualified space for this kind of literature. When each one of these authors, decided to write about the migratory experience of their people, was motivated by their own personal struggle. The first one, writes based on her uncle’s tragedy, challenging the justice conceptions in the interior of a strong hegemony. While the second, approaches the biculturalism and the bilingualism, the life between two worlds, which are common characteristics of immigrants. We understand that, in this way, putting the literature produced in this environment in evidence, valuing their polyphonic nature, contributes to the rupture in the belittleling of the others’ culture.
dc.description.resumoComo objeto central desta pesquisa, está a abordagem da literatura produzida a partir de deslocamentos e que surge como resultado do esforço de autores nesta condição, em dar visibilidade às experiências da diáspora. Evidencia-se questões de identidades que se constroem em trânsito, o que confirma estudos de Stuart Hall (2006), quando este concebe a identidade como uma “celebração móvel”, fragmentada e não estável, bem como o fato de que movimentos diaspóricos estimulam o surgimento do “terceiro espaço” (BHABHA, 1998) ou do “entre-lugar” (BHABHA, 1998; SANTIAGO, 2000). Um espaço considerado como introduzível, cindido e hibridizado, surgido a partir da diferença cultural e que serve de estímulo para produções artísticas, inclusive para a literatura. Tem como foco a literatura produzida nos Estados Unidos e escrita em língua inglesa, por duas autoras, uma, a haitiana Edwidge Danticat, com Brother, I’m Dying, e a outra, Judith Ortiz Cofer, de origem porto-riquenha, com a obra Call me María, como forma de valorizar e incentivar a conquista de um espaço qualificado para este tipo de escrita. Cada uma destas autoras, ao decidir escrever sobre a experiência migratória de seu povo, foi motivada por vivências pessoais. A primeira escreve a partir da trágica história de seu tio, desafiando concepções de justiça no interior de uma potência hegemônica. Enquanto a segunda faz uma abordagem sobre a biculturalidade e o bilinguismo, o viver entre dois mundos, características inerentes aos sujeitos migrantes. Dessa forma, entende-se que colocar em evidência a literatura produzida no espaço surgido na fronteira, valorizando sua natureza polifônica, contribui para a ruptura em processos de subalternização da cultura do outro.
