Resumo
This master’s thesis will discuss about the spatial mobility of a specific population: the workers of Oil and Natural Gas segment in state of Espírito Santo. The main goal is to know how the carbon economy affect the population movements of workers, using a methodological approach quali quantitative. In the quantitative part this dissertation will analyze the secondary data about demography and labor market. In the qualitative study it was decided to carry out semi-structured interviews with the aim of tracing the life-path of Oil workers. The great challenge is tried approach an articulated view between the macro structural and conjunctural issues with individual issues, special about aspire and desire of migration. To achieve the proposed, the discussion begins showing the importance of Oil economy to geographic issues, mainly wondering about urban and social formations of the places impacted by investments in Brazil and in the state of Espírito Santo. Furthermore, in this moment will show the secondaries data about oil production, labor market and demography. In sequence, the text will present a theorical discussion about skilled work and spatial mobility of population. Finally, will be presented the Oil workers life-path, evidencing the effects of carbon economy in the life of the people that works in the segment. The results demonstrate that oil is the main motivator of migration for workers in the sector, being responsible for generating great spatial fluidity for these people. In addition, it was possible to demonstrate that life trajectories are directly influenced by structural and conjunctural issues. In general, the study showed that the oil economy, in addition to impacting the spatial issues of the places where the projects are installed, also directly impact the lives of workers.
