Resumo
The distance of the main suppliers of raw materials for the furniture industry in the state of Espírito Santo is one factor that has been causing an increase in production costs of furniture, making them less competitive. The location problems aim to delimit sites in order to provide a solution, if possible good, that will minimize the total cost of facilities and transport. The objective of this study to classify the territory of the state of the Holy Spirit according to the potential for the implementation of a wood pellet plant, commonly known as MDP (Medium Density Particleboards) panel. Seven were considered minimum requirements of the enterprise to be indicators of potential being: 1 - proximity to highways, 2 - proximity to railroads, 3 - proximity to marine terminals, 4 - poles near furniture makers, 5 - proximity to industries of panels already existing 6 - proximity to water masses and 7 - Climate skills for eucalyptus cultivation. The superposition of all maps provided in regions reclassified potential varying intervals of 5 from 0 to 16, with: a) 0 to 3 (infeasible), b) from 4 to 6 (bad), c) from 7 to 9 (regular), d) 10-12 (good) and e) 13 to 16 (excellent). The economic feasibility of installing the panels industry was evaluated using the model of Monte Carlo simulation and simulated values for the Net Present Value (NPV). The results indicated that 2.00% of the state territory of the Holy Spirit presents potential classified as excellent, good as 8.88%, 33.53% fair, 38.71% and 16.88% as bad as unfeasible. With the evaluation of the economic viability of the project it was found that among the 5,000 simulations, 96.70% of NPVs are greater than 0 (zero) and 30.56% are greater than 100% of the amount invested. It was concluded that the region closest to the Metropolitan areas in the state are the most suitable for the deployment of the wood panel industry and the northern region of the state is the one with the lowest potential for installation. It was also possible to conclude that the chances of the project proposed investment does not get damage is high, but the chances of getting a return on the initial investment is very low for the planning horizon of this study.
