The Place of Football, composed of a broad system of practices and social representations, is considered a product of both collective and individual expression in space, reverberating throughout urban life and the domain of everyday existence. In the Brazilian context, since the assimilation of football, this place has undergone several transformations. In contemporary times, the rise of football’s commodified and spectacularized nature has consequences not only for the sport itself but, above all, for the social environment connected to the game. The place of football constitutes a significant context for strengthening a collective identity deeply associated with the territory, with the stadium serving as the architectural symbol of this expression. This centrality integrates an essentially urban territory in constant dispute, whether of a socioeconomic, political, material, or cultural nature. Football, as a global product, establishes patterns that promote the loss of place identity in the name of spectacle, driven by the transformation of football into a commodity and fans into consumers. This phenomenon disrupts the club-community-place relationship from a multiscalar perspective. The impact of football on place emerges as a relevant field of investigation within geographical, urban, and architectural studies, justifying and guiding the production of historical and scientific records aimed at describing, reflecting upon, and proposing actions concerning the place of football. In this regard, this research aims to demonstrate the relevance of the place of football as a structuring element of local identity and urban landscape, using the capixaba club Associação Atlética Desportiva Ferroviária Vale do Rio Doce as a case study. To achieve this, the study discusses the process of football's metropolitanization in Brazil and the resulting losses for football in the Metropolitan Region of Grande Vitória, Espírito Santo. Furthermore, it reflects on possible practices oriented towards the place of football to promote a process of reterritorialization through the construction of community autonomy in this space. To this end, the research follows a qualitative, descriptive-analytical methodology aimed at capturing the object of study in its entirety, through the following methodological steps: conceptualization of the place of football based on multidisciplinary literature; development of a representation of the place of football in the Metropolitan Region of Grande Vitória; construction of a closer representation of Desportiva Ferroviária, based on participant observation and interviews, to characterize practices and delimit the scope of the place of football within everyday life; documentary research for cataloging existing documentation and developing a representation of the concrete object. As a result, the study aims to construct a representation of the place of football, characterizing the football stadium as both a physical and symbolic centrality within urban space, while also demonstrating its significance beyond the stadium itself in shaping place and urban landscape. Additionally, the research seeks to develop propositional essays concerning the place of football, recognizing its potential as a mediating element for the development of a local project through practices that foster the resistance of place and the autonomy of the community against centralizing and globalized forces exerted upon it
