Resumo
This dissertation intends to demonstrate that whenever a child makes recognizable choices he assumes an “active responsive attitude” in certain enunciative situations. According to Bakhtin ([1979] 2003), this “responsive attitude” takes place in the course of a linguistic comprehension process and it places the individual in an active discursive position which makes the individual able to agree, disagree, complete and apply linguistic elements of discursive communication. It’s important to say that this “willingness to say” is determined by the conditions of production and it reveals the place that “ethos” occupies in discourse. In search of such a “responsive attitude”, this dissertation follows Bakhtin’s ideas on discursive choices, subjectivity and genre, along with Benveniste, Possenti, Foucault and some other authors. We also follow Maingueneau’s (1993/1995) conceptions on “ethos”. We think that the idea of “ethos” may be linked to Bakhtin’s concept on the “active subject”. This research relies on indiciary paradigm proposed by Ginzburg (1986); a paradigm based on the analysis of details which will establish the main hypotheses to be found within the corpus. The corpus of the research is a fragment of the written production of a child beginning elementary school, and includes material from the first and second grades.
