The subject of this research is the Burnout Syndrome. General objective: To analyze the temporal trend of Burnout Syndrome (BS) in Brazilian adults and nurses from 2014 to 2023. Method: Ecological study with a temporal series perspective of BS, between 2014 and 2023, in the adult Brazilian population and specifically for nurses. Using aggregated secondary data, from the database of the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System - Datasus, an agency linked to the Brazilian Ministry of Health. Results: Through this study, it was noted that Work-Related Mental Disorders (WRMD), as well as BS, are prevalent among females, for the Brazilian adult population and among nurses. In terms of age range, notifications of new cases did not present statistically significant differences for the brazilian adult population or among nurses. The time trend showed a breach in linearity for WRMD notifications among Brazilian adults, with two delimited time spans, from 2014 to 2020 and from 2020 to 2023, the latter having a more robust annual percentage change (APC). The percentage of BS in the WRMD showed a breach of linearity in a different period, with the time intervals delimited as 2014 to 2019 and 2019 to 2023, the second interval also showing a more significant increase. When analyzing the occupation of nurses, a single time frame was observed from 2014 to 2023 with no changes between VPA or VPMA. Conclusion: WRMD, especially BS, currently represents a latent challenge in the labor reality, where the escalation of illnesses in the Brazilian working population is propitiated, representing a challenge to public policies regarding health, work, and social security.
