Resumo
Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is among the most prominent crops on the consumers' table, however, an effective system for monitoring and controlling agricultural defenses in Brazil is still lacking. Thus, the inappropriate use of pesticides in the traditional system of cultivation has been contested by members of the agroindustrial chain of tomatoes. In view of this, there is an upward concern in identifying solutions that make possible the sustainability of agricultural activities. Moreover, the electrostatic spraying technique is an alternative route to the traditional spray mechanism. To evaluate the basis of this alternative, a bibliometric revision was developed through the information generated by the Web of Science database, a multidisciplinary platform that includes the most cited journals on the subject. This research demonstrates that the number of publications over a decade is low, due to the relevance of the topic addressed. The country with the highest productivity of generated jobs is the United States of America, while there are only three national articles that deal with the theme. Therefore, there is a need for new research on the use of electrostatic spraying in tomato crops. Therefore, statistical models were developed to estimate the leaf area of tomato plants and to indicate a regression equation that best represents the leaf area as a function of allometric measurements of the leaves. The leaf area measurements of the Paronset Syngenta variety can be estimated with good performance, using linear equations (= 0.26x - 8.91), quadratic (= 0.00002x² + 0.31x - 33.69 ), and potency (= 0.175x1.050). While the costal sprayer with electrostatic assistance was characterized in relation to the spectra of drops, pressure and flow, it was also analyzed through this work the deposition in plants of tomato plants in function of different equipments with and without electrostatic assistance. It has been determined that electrostatic spraying provides uniform deposition between the sides of the leaves of tomato plants. On the other hand, the deposition inside the canopy is smaller, independent of the equipment used. Manual sprinklers cause increased runoff to the soil, however, the use of electrostatic spray assist significantly reduces runoff to the soil, the volume of product and labor used
