The stories shown in that episode are “Nana and Nilo, what is the game?”, by Renato Nogueira and “The girl who embroidered tickets”, by Lenice Gomes. Both of them mixes storytelling, book animations and dynamic and fun activities among a presenter woman and a group of children between 5 and 10 years old. Through the animation of children's literature stories, multiculturalism, identity, ancestry, musicality are discussed, valuing African and Afro-Brazilian culture. The work methodology proposed in this study was developed through qualitative bibliographical research, based on theoretical references in the area of ethnic-racial relations and children's literature (OLIVEIRA, 2003; LIMA, 2005; GOUVEA, 2005; JOVINO, 2006) ; DEBUS, 2018; among others); scholars of the field of imagery (PASCOLATI, 2017; CAVICHIOLI, 2014; SOUZA, 2021); and the conceptions of language presented by Bakhtin (1997, 2006 and 2010). We also conducted a semi-structured interview with two professors, a teacher and a professor, who participated in the project “A Cor da Cultura” in Espírito Santo and worked in the classroom with the program “Livros Animados”. The overall aim of this study is: to reflect on the importance of the program "Livros Animados", as a way for the dissemination of children's literature about African and Afro-Brazilian themes. The specific objectives are: a) to identify, based on concepts of language from Bakhtin and educational researchers of ethnic-racial relations, which verbal and imagetic discourses are proposed in the program's stories; b) to analyze how African and Afro-Brazilian civilizing values are shown throughout the episode c) to reveal the experience of teachers in the application of the “Livros Animados” program in the classroom. The guiding question of this study is: can the use of works of children's literature in audiovisual version be an important resource for the applicability of Brazilian Law 10,639/2003? We understand that the literary works can convey different perceptions. We agree with Bakhtin (2006) about literary works have an ideological choice. In this perspective, the way the characters are constructed are not neutral, they have a purpose. The study conclude that the program "Livros Animados" is an important material to be used in the classroom, proving to be an important resource to contest the use of stereotype from the Eurocentric literature in which black characters are coadjuvant, most part of time, or they are treated by in an inferior and stereotyped way, without great attention. Istead it, African and AfroBrazilian civilizing values such as circularity, corporeity, musicality, orality and cooperativism, trought in the animated video, can also be introduce in the classroom, contributing to an anti-racist education. However, it is not an easy transition due to the prejudice of some education professionals for working with videos instead the traditional way of teaching. Although it is an important resource for implementing Brazilian Law 10,639, “Livros Animados” is not enough, because It is necessary that education professionals are also willing to work with the theme, in addition to greater support from the Education Departments at Municipal and State government.
