- ItemA Álgebra nos Anos Finais do Ensino Fundamental: Erros que Alunos mais Cometem(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2021-12-21) Gorini, Kissylla Christina Medeiros; Rosado Filho, Moacir; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7617-3133; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5049304126500678; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5677-8063; Bayer, Valmecir Antonio dos Santos; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3276-1328; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5381937275780405; Gualandi, Jorge Henrique; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0302-7650; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3386420572368441The research carried out in this work refers to a search for reflections and proposals for solutions to minimize the problem of mistakes made by students in the final years of elementary school during the teaching-learning process of the Algebra thematic unit in the midst of the transition from arithmetic to mathematics algebraic. To understand the teaching of Algebra today, it was necessary to develop a historical study on how Algebra first appeared, as well as the influences suffered over the years, including the reforms that took place from 1970 onwards and the current models initially guided by by the National Curriculum Parameters (PCN, 1998) which was recently replaced by the Common National Curriculum Base (BNCC, 2018). This work was developed based on a methodology of bibliographic research and field research. For this purpose, playful activities were used that could provide a mapping of the mistakes that students make the most. Most students demonstrated difficulties in the construction of algebraic expressions. It was also observed in several studies the feeling of inability to recognize themselves as an individual with the potential to learn mathematics. The auxiliary study contributes to a reflection on the importance of using playful methods and lesson plans that would enable the improvement of the process of building algebraic thinking.

Therefore, the objective of this work is to show the relevance of the study of affines functions in basic education, initially addressing their definition, the analysis of their graph, the study of their signs, their characterization and some particularities. From there, we will analyze issues of external evaluations in Espírito Santo and national, such as Learning Monitoring Assessment - AMA, Basic Education Assessment Program in Espírito Santo - PAEBES, Diagnostic Assessment (also available by the State Department of Education), Selection process at the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo - IFES, Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad for Public Schools - OBMEP and National High School Exam - ENEM, addressing some common mistakes made by students, presenting a correct solution and discussing some applications.
- ItemA matemática financeira e a inclusão bancária dos alunos do ensino médio(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2015-07-10) Pegoretti, Jordon Luiz; Bayer, Valmecir Antonio dos Santos; Rosado Filho, Moacir; Bayer, Valmecir Antonio dos SantosThis paper deals with Financial Mathematics in high school and its importance to the household finances and the conscious credit, seeking to prepare students for banking inclusion. Therefore, we proposed activities that address the matter and how it is relevant to relationships with banks and / or financial. The methodology is based on an exploratory survey of employees of a bank city of Linhares-ES, responsible for customer service, credit analysis and sale of products and services to individual and corporate person. The research aims to verify the knowledge level of the population from the point of view of banking. With the results, have been proposed activities involving loans, using credit card and overdraft, focused on conscious credit and to find solutions to the growing household debt. The final considerations underline the importance of financial education quality and how it will influence the individual's choices for life. As contributions, research leaves us lessons and challenges. Lessons when we review the survey results with the bank and as the theme have been poorly addressed in schools, reflecting the Brazilian population, and challenges us to change the course of this history and begin a process of reduction of household debt through awareness of our students

- ItemDificuldades na aprendizagem da matemática: um estudo com alunos do ensino médio(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2014-04-14) Loureiro, Vanilda; Bayer, Valmecir Antonio dos Santos; Fantin, Silas; Ccoyllo, Rosa Elvira QuispeThe main objective of this dissertation is to investigate the phenomenon of the difficulty that many high school students have in learning math. For that, it chooses to understand the view of those students about the problem. It discusses somewhat about the influences that the motivation can exert influence in learning. It also discusses ethnomathematics and resolution problems and about the importance that they can achieve during the students’ learning process. Opting for the qualitative research it takes refuge with a questionnaire as a method of gathering information. It points that the students understand that the problem is not just in the teaching method utilized by the teacher or in the abstract nature of mathematics itself. Thus, many of the individuals who contributed to the survey indicate a lack of basic math in elementary school and the need to memorize many formulas and rules as the main reasons for the difficulty of students to learn mathematics in school. As suggestions, the students who completed the questionnaire point mainly to the teacher’s need to change the method of teaching, as well as the use of other resources and / or exploitation of situations of everyday life. It proposes that it is necessary the realization of new studies not only in high school to understand better the problem, but also in elementary school.

The data was collected and analyzed based in a fill Algebras researchers. This research was developed based on the application of a questionnaire and five activities, which follow a line of development in solving equations, in which students make reference to the relationship of equations with some methodologies such as representation on a scale. In this application, four methods of solving equations were used: Generate and Evaluate, Hide, Undo and Equivalent Equations. Analyzes were made of the activities carried out by students, which generated reflection on their algebraic development. The analyzed results showed the importance of working in the classroom with more than one method to develop the contents, considering that each student has its own way.
- ItemEnsino das frações no ensino fundamental: proposta de sequências didáticas(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2021-06-29) Pinheiro, Mary Jane Alcantara; Bayer, Valmecir Antonio dos Santos; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3276-1328; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5381937275780405; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1033-0308; Silva, Domingos Sávio Valério; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6495-2498; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1046925007883007Although the teaching of fractions started in elementary school, most students arrive at high school without knowing how to solve contextualized problems involving operations with rational numbers in fractional form. This research proposes to present didactic alternatives to contribute to the teaching and learning of this content with the proposal of didactic sequences to be worked in teacher training that teach the content in the initial grades of Elementary School. The diagnostic evaluation carried out with students from the 1st year of high school in public schools in the State of Espírito Santo proves the limitations of students' knowledge about fractional rational numbers and the need for didactic interventions for teaching content still in the base, in initial grades of elementary school. On the other hand, both the literature review and the documentary analysis of the curricular matrices of the Pedagogy courses offered in Grande Vitória, as well as the analysis of data from the interview with undergraduate students in pedagogy about their perception in relation to the mathematical training they receive in the course and more specifically about the teaching of Fractions demonstrate that the training proposed in the curricular organization of degrees in pedagogy is not sufficient for the adequate approach to the teaching of fractions in the initial grades with the use of diversified didactic practices and resources. In this perspective of collaboration with the mathematical education of the teacher of the initial series, the research presents as didactic sequences that present facilitated and diversified forms for the teaching of fractions material that can be proposed in workshops and continuing education courses for elementary school teachers.
- ItemEquações Diofantinas na Educação Básica: Uma Análise à Luz dos Registros de Representação Semiótica(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2021-12-21) Dalvi, Helder; Rosado Filho, Moacir; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7617-3133; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5049304126500678; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4023-7718; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; Bayer, Valmecir Antonio dos Santos; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3276-1328; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5381937275780405; Gualandi, Jorge Henrique; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0302-7650; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3386420572368441The study approaches the theme about the importance of teaching Mathematics in a creative way through the application of Diophantine equations and their resolution in different ways. The general objective of the study is to show TRRS as an efficient strategy for capturing content in solving Diophantine equations in Elementary School. As for the specific objectives, it will be to verify, in the light of the literature, the importance of teacher training and pedagogical practices for the teaching of Mathematics; understand the process that leads to learning improvement through the semiotic register; to present the various forms of transformation of semiotic registers in Diophantine equations; identify the possibilities and difficulties perceived in the classroom in solving Diophantine equations in Mathematics teaching. The research method will be descriptive with a qualitative-quantitative approach and problem solving strategies. The results of this research indicate little exploration regarding the use of Semiotic Representation Records to solve Diophantine equations, however, there was an increase in student performance in the second moment of solving the problems. A range of strategies is recommended to be implemented in order to mitigate the lack of interest on the part of students and, at the same time, encourage the teacher to make use of methodologies that promote interaction, which serve as bridges between them – teachers and students. The study points to the need to create intelligibility of the problems addressed so that criticisms and proposals that cooperate with the elaboration of future/possible actions for the teaching of Mathematics are built.

- ItemExplorando as Relações entre Função Afim e Progressão Aritmética(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2021-04-27) Eiriz, Douglas Costa; Silva, Domingos Savio Valerio; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6495-2498; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1046925007883007; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8112-8385; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5418630215933390; Bayer, Valmecir Antonio dos Santos; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3276-1328; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5381937275780405It’s noteworthy the great advance occurred in Mathematics teaching along the latest decades, but there are many challenges to be faced by the teachers yet, since the discipline is still considered one of the main responsible for the high failure rates among students. Much of this, is due to the way, sometimes impoverished, which the discipline is taught, or even, due to the lack of contextualization and interrelationships between the various contents, either through didactic material or even by the student’s unpreparedness. So, this work aims to explore some existing relationships between the themes of Affine Function and Arithmetic Progression, through the construction of students’ thinking. In general, the present study is defined by a qualitative research based on a didactic sequence that consists of selecting a sample of students from the 1st high school year in a state public school; review the proposed themes; apply a research instrument activity; and a moment to return to the students and analyze the activities. The final aim is to arouse them the idea that both, the content of affine function and arithmetic progression are related by some peculiarities and that there are problems which can be modeled and solved by both themes. Finally, an analysis of the entire exploratory activity will be presented, considering the solutions proposed by the students, whether it’s right or wrong. After analyzing all data, the results showed how important it is to use this type of relation between contents, previously considered different, for the students’ knowledge to be constructed.
- ItemFunção exponencial: definição, caracterização e aplicação(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2015-06-25) Gadioli, Anderson Oliveira; Bayer, Valmecir Antonio dos Santos; Silva, Domingos Savio Valerio; Guimarães, Andréa GomesThe present dissertation deals with an approach regarding the teaching of exponential function for teachers of mathematics. This work has served in the studies of LIMA (2010), DANTE (2014), EVES (2004), IEZZI (2011) among others to justify the importance of this teaching in the final series of basic education. It is known that the teaching of mathematics is going through delicate moments in the last few decades, so it is important to expand knowledge for a new approach in this teaching and clearly applies. In this way, it is believed that there is a greater commitment on the part of the teacher and the student in the sense that if you finish with this rancid which is the study of mathematics. Therefore, in a world where new technologies and information is more accessible, the mathematical models become a facilitator when you need to troubleshoot and analyze graphs.
- ItemMatemática Aplicada à Topografia(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2017-11-16) Zucchi Neto, Antonio Donato; Bayer, Valmecir Antonio dos Santos; Silva, Domingos Sávio Valério; Bayer, Valmecir Antonio dos Santos; Fantin, SilasThis work presents the relation between basic knowledge of geometry and trigonometry with topography, with emphasis on tachometry. The work consists of a brief history and some topography concepts, of the theoretical mathematical foundation necessary for the demonstrations of formulas used in topographical calculations, examples of applying trigonometry and geometry in obtaining inaccessible distances and the procedures to perform the calculations of a survey planimetric by polygon. It is presented a suggestion of classes involving topography in order to better develop mathematical contents in a practical way and with that to asome the interest of the students.
- ItemO ensino da Probabilidade com foco no ENEM(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2024-12-05) Fernandes, Dariomar Cano; Bayer, Valmecir Antonio dos Santos ; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3276-1328; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5381937275780405; https://orcid.org/0009-0002-2706-5827; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9745446915954981; Rosado Filho, Moacir ; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7617-3133; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5049304126500678; Silva, Pedro Matos; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6239-1316; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8725114957090750The probability is present in human reasoning throughout the entire lifetime in different events: in a perspective of winning a prize, by guessing the sex of a baby, whether there willbe sun or rain, and others. The doubt regarding whether these events will occur or not encourage the interest of the spectators and of all the people involved. The probability study in Elementary and High School presents formulas and rules used to analyze these probabilities. This dissertation will approach this issue by investigate the methodology used in teaching these calculations and by contextualizing the contents and observe the examples resolutions. A research has been made based on a group of students who solved the proposed questions presented in the Brazilian National High School Exam. This students group discussed about the mistakes, difficulties and the right answers. An intervention has been made developed from this discussion in order to improve the students’ performance in exams during this year which has generated a high level o flearning. There was a highly satisfactory number of hits. Most mistakes have been occurred due to carelessness, text comprehension problems and by the anxiety common to many people when they are making exams, mainly due to the limited time and their classificatory nature. Therefore, it has been showed that there is a necessity to increase the number of training hours and activities resolutions in order to rise the students’ security. Besides practicing the resolutions, the students also need to practice and manage calm and concentration
- ItemO Estudo de Probabilidade no Ensino Médio(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2019-05-16) Carloni, Paula Carolina; Bayer, Valmecir Antonio dos Santos; Guimarães, Andréa Gomes; Silva, Domingos Sávio ValérioThe purpose of this paper is to show the student the importance of probability in everyday life. Firstly, a survey was made of students' prior knowledge of probability. Next, the historical aspects of probability and geometric probability were discussed. The next step was to construct the concepts and definitions of probability, analyzed several problems were, whose solutions were constructed with the intervention of the teacher, inducing the students to think and rethink these basic concepts. Then, a didactic sequence was applied on the subject probability, with the perspective of producing meaningful and contextualized learning. Finally, a written evaluation was applied on the topics addressed in the work.
- ItemO Princípio de Cavalieri e suas Aplicações: Áreas e Volumes(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2021-06-29) Machado, Luiza Lucia Mendes da Costa; Bayer, Valmecir Antonio dos Santos; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3276-1328; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5381937275780405; Silva, Domingos Savio Valerio; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6495-2498; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1046925007883007Mathematics has prestige and stands out for its practical usefulness: the areas of geometry, magnitudes and measures enable man to have a spatial understanding of the world and complement each other. Some geometrical quantities, such as areas and volumes, are the links between these areas of Mathematics and are important concepts, which must be worked with students still in school age. The screen research aims to contribute to the teaching and learning of areas and volumes, providing a theoretical and methodological study on these quantities, based on Cavalieri’s Principle and seeking to deduce formulas for the calculation of areas and volumes for different flat and solid figures geometric, respectively. To this end, a study is initially described on the guidelines present in official documents of Brazilian education regarding the greatness of volume; the concept of volume is contextualized historically, addressing the contribution of several mathematicians, with emphasis on the influence of Cavalieri and his Principle and the concepts of area and volume are defined by proposing, through didactic sequences, processes for deducting formulas for the calculation of these quantities in flat figures and geometric solids - based on Cavalieri’s Principle. In order to promote a more comprehensive study on the quantities and geometric solids, we seek to analyze each type of solid, highlighting its elements, nomenclatures and classifications. In order to highlight the practical usefulness of volumes and the Cavalieri Principle, this research ends with applications for solving various problems. The research also provides mathematical concepts with the necessary rigor, but in an accessible way to high school students.
