- ItemÁreas sob curvas: uma sequência didática para o ensino médio(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2015-10-27) Boldrini, Thiago; Valentim, Fábio Júlio da Silva; 1º membro da bancaI propose the continuation of the studies of functions on high school by inserting the study of areas under graphics and applications in some subjects such as physics and economics. I present the content as activities to be developed with the teacher's help, the definition of natural logarithm as area under a graph and activities to explore the understanding.
- ItemDiversificando o ensino de matemática com ênfase na resolução de problemas(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2016-03-24) Aguiar, Paulo Célio; Guimarães Filho, Florêncio Ferreira; 1º membro da bancaThis study begins with a brief account of my professional experience and a remark made to appropriate the statistical data of a state school, which I linked meeting. It has been found that it has a considerable rate of failure in Mathematics, and a regular performance in this discipline in external evaluations. In an attempt to identify the causes, was made an observation of lessons, interviews with students and teachers, where we realized that fit present a proposal to diversify the teaching of this discipline in order to improve student learning and hence their performance in evaluations. This discussion extends in the second chapter, which briefly questioned is the way this course has been taught in most schools. É also presented an account of a successful experience. In the third chapter, based on my vision teacher and former manager, I present an educational proposal emphasizing motivation and diversification. From the fourth chapter, problem solving takes the role of main theme of this dissertation and is seen on various aspects. First, we used the mathematics of history to understand the degree of interest of the ancient mathematicians in this theme. In then it is treated as a teaching strategy for teaching mathematics. In the final chapter, we present a series of problems solved, well chosen criterion, which explores various techniques and solving strategies. We ended by suggesting to readers, a list of problems containing some tips and answers.
- ItemO software X-LOGO no ensino e aprendizado de matemática(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2018-05-10) Fermiano, Carlos Wilson Pimenta; Rosado Filho, Moacir; Araújo, Alancardeck Pereira; 1º membro da bancaThis dissertation addresses topics related to the practice of computing in education, interpretation and production of commands that relate programming logic to mathematical content. We discussed the importance of computer science in education and the benefits it can bring to the classroom, if used properly. We approach the X-LOGO software, its potentialities, limitations and some precautions that we must take when using it in Mathematics classes. We conjecture mathematical models in the program and justify some results found. We worked on the primitives and commands of this software with logical procedures that we did. We create logical procedures that add odd numbers; add natural numbers; identify whether or not a natural number is prime through its divisors; we also create procedures that use the Heron Method to approximate square roots; which construct regular polygons through recursion; that calculate the MDC of two numbers using the Euclidean Algorithm; generate palindromes (cap´icuas) also by recursive algorithm; identify the Inequalities of Averages in a circle of any radius. We also used the program to study Triangle Inequality from conjectures, as did the Ford Tangent Circles. Some of the themes we deal with with special attention, working more examples, making proofs of the conjectures using the Principle of Mathematical Induction to justify.

This proposal can be used both to review content lost during the remote learning period and to introduce the topic to students. The experience of returning to classes, after more than a year, highlighted the gap and limitation of content transmitted remotely, in addition to those that were not addressed due to limited time and social distancing imposed by the pandemic. Even with teachers' efforts to transmit as much content as efficiently as possible, it was perceived that it was not enough to ensure adequate continuity of learning. Given this scenario, teachers face the challenge of teaching a significant amount of content in a short period of time, aiming to reduce this gap so that students can progress in subsequent school years with more confidence in their learning. Therefore, this didactic sequence focused on teaching fractions in the final grades is proposed. Learning fractions is essential for several reasons. Firstly, fractions are essential for understanding and representing parts of a whole accurately, being useful in everyday situations and in areas such as mathematics, science, and engineering. Additionally, understanding fractions develops reasoning and problem-solving skills, requiring analysis, pattern recognition, and application of problem-solving strategies. In this didactic sequence, a fundamental method of teaching fractions is proposed, with the aim of enabling students to understand these concepts autonomously. The educational process will address conceptual interpretations of fractions, basic operations, problem-solving, and playful teaching strategies, aiming to promote effective and lasting learning

The aim is to provide teachers with knowledge about the simulator, along with suggestions on how some concepts normally worked on in elementary and secondary education can be approached through the use of the simulator. The proposals include teaching the initial concepts of fractions, affine functions, quadratic functions and trigonometric functions using PhET. To optimize the presentation of content by teachers, didactic sequences were developed for each topic, in addition to the production of videos to assist in demonstrating the simulator’s resources
- ItemTeoria básica das cadeias de Markov(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2015-10-27) Magela, Mateus Mendes; Guimarães Filho, Florêncio Ferreira; 1º membro da bancaMarkov chains play a rising and important role in problems solving in several knowledge areas such as: Administration, Biology, Genetics, Meteorology and Game theory. This paper aims show the use of Markov chains stationary distribution. A review about prerequisites necessary for comprehending the theory will be presented in the first chapters. Then, we will introduce the general theory of Markov chains focusing on some of their applications. The last chapter will highlight the Page Rank algorithm, an important feature of Markov chain used by Google to place on top the most interesting web pages related to the researched topic.
