The groups started to organize themselves in order to enhance their capacities to generate the sustenance and protection of all. From small groups, they passed to tribes, which in turn, grew in number and number of members, from which arose the need for a command that could account for the relations between them. In this new phase, man discovers ambition and greed for power. The strongest and most powerful begin to enslave the weakest to take advantage of themselves and satisfy their lusts. The problem is that after 132 years of the abolition of slavery, slavery is still found in Brazil, however with a different guise, where poor people who did not have the opportunity to leave the social place in which they were born, configure the new profile of who is enslaved. Thus, it is necessary to understand which mechanisms and behaviors have been used in the Brazilian rural sector capable of generating working conditions similar to slavery. The main objectivewas to understand, through the analysis of the infraction notices drawn up by the Labor Auditors during 2018, how abusive behaviors are manifested and what type of perpetuation mechanisms have been used in the work environment of the Brazilian rural sector. The theoretical background began with the concepts of the Dark Side, which considers the negative aspects, complemented by the legal dimension of damages (material, moral and existential) and Andrew Crane's Theory of Modern Slavery (2013). As for the methods and procedures, a qualitative and quantitative approach was used, accompanied by documentary and bibliographic research. The data were collected in digital files of the Ministry of Economy, encouraged by the audits carried out by the Labor Tax Auditors. Quantitative data were organized in tables, using percentage calculations that consolidate the results of the inspections. The research was developed in the line of Policy, Planning and Public Governance, with the final result, ten categories, defined ex-ante, of damages to the enslaved worker and an additional category, composed of five modalities, which were reported in the records searched, of in order to exemplify the conditions exposed against the background of Crane's theory (2013). In this way it was possible to identify the different characteristics of the Dark Side in relation to workers in a situation similar to slavery in the Brazilian rural sector, the main abusive behaviors and the actors involved in the slave labor network. From the results, as a technological product, a technical document was generated about the Dark Side in the Brazilian rural sector, which contains data that can assist in the creation of public policies capable of, at least, mitigating contemporary slavery
