The landscape can be defined as the expressive territory of identity, whose character derives from the action of natural and human factors and their interrelations. The landscape is, therefore, the historically constructed territory. Understanding the landscape as a reference for territorial identity places it as a mediator in plans and projects for the territory. It is understood that, despite advances in the field of landscape and scientific production resulting from the European Landscape Convention, there are still impasses in implementing effective actions for the protection, management and ordering of urban landscapes. In this sense, the landscape project is understood from the territorial heritage, a reference to guide design strategies for the restoration of the dynamics of landscape formation. To this end, the methodological approach of the Italian Territorialist School - ETI is adopted, articulating notions and methods in an interdisciplinary way, between architecture and geography. Based on the recognition of territorial heritage, the ETI proposes the concept of territory understood as heritage, or “territorial heritage”, historically constructed by human actions in nature, defined in the relationships between the physical environment (environmental system), the environment built (territorial-landscape system) and the social environment (anthropic system). The research theoretically and methodologically faces the elaboration of a double narrative - historical-structural and morphotypological - based on the interpretation and representation of territorial heritage and intends to discuss the possibility of identifying a landscape morphotype and what elements are used for its representation. Thus, considering the constant urban transformations and taking into account the scenario of loss of landscape value and the relationship with its structuring elements, the work aimed to identify the territorial-landscape heritage of Juiz de Fora/MG, and indicate which Elements of the territory can be considered to think about the landscape morphotype. Under a qualitative and descriptive approach, the research methodology was characterized as empirical (SERRA, 2006). The activities linked to the methodological approach intended to: (a) identify, describe and represent the landscape and the structuring elements that presuppose the territorial-landscape heritage; (b) identify and analyze permanences, persistence and ruptures in the territory under study in order to understand its potential; (c) recognize analytical typological units of the territory and (d) establish conceptual and methodological indications for the representation of landscape morphotypes. The work was developed from the activities of bibliographic review, documentary research, observational research, identity representation of the territory, synthetic description and analysis and interpretation. In conclusion, it is understood that the landscape constitutes a strategic factor and access to the valorization of the territory, from which it can be managed based on the principles of sustainable development
