Objectives: To identify an association between dental variables and sociodemographic variables of the elderly at the Third Age Centers in the city of Vitória-ES. It also seeks to check the association between the impacts caused by oral conditions and independent variables on the quality of life of these elderly people. Methods: Analytical study with a cross-sectional design in a sample of 402 participants, chosen at random, with collection of non-clinical data through interviews with structured questionnaires. To check the impact of oral conditions one of the rotators used to collect data was the Oral Health Impact Profile in the reduced version, the OHIP-14. Univariate analyzes were conducted using the Chi-square and Fischer’s Exact tests. The Mantel-Haenzsel test was used to assess the effects of the combined measures and the Odds-Ratio to assess the strength of the association of oral quality of life conditions at the level of p<0.05, with a 95% confidence interval. Results: As variables that showed an association with tooth loss were: female gender (p= 0.024), age over 70 years (p= 0.000), up to 10 years of schooling (p=0.000) and belonging to classes C/DE (p=0.000). The prevalence of the overall impact observed was 32.6%. Conclusions: It was possible to identify the association between dental and the following sociodemographic variables: sex, age, education and socioeconomic status. The greatest prediction of impact caused by oral problems in quality of life was found in: women, who have up to 10 years of study, who need removable partial dentures and who do not accept the loss of teeth
