Resumo
The present work has as its proposition the green chemistry approach articulated to the theme of the preparation of sediment samples for the elementary determination using diluted nitric acid, focused on the teaching of chemistry in the context of higher education, of the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES). Therefore, the research has two methodological approaches: experimental and educational. The experimental methodology describes how the efficiency of diluted nitric acid was verified in the preparation of sediment samples. The experimental results indicated that the mixture planning allowed the evaluation of a greater amount proportion between the reagents in a shorter time period, besides providing more significant responses than a varied uni study. In addition, the use of dilute acid allowed the determination of Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, P, Pb, V and, Zn by ICP OES (inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy) with good precision and accuracy, using a method of decomposition of sediment samples of the inorganic matrix that are rich in silicate. From this, the didactic strategy was applied, in the light ofProblemBased Learning (PBL), with the mobilization of knowledge related to the preparation of samples using dilute nitric acid, in an approach to the concepts of green chemistry, in the chemistry course (bachelor's and degree), in the discipline of Environmental Chemistry. Students proposed new alternatives and different ways of solving problems related to chemical activities. Data were collected through questionnaires that were applied to students before and after the didactic intervention; students' records in the PBL monitoring form and student’s textual productions. For analysis and treatment of qualitative data, Bardin content analysis and the calculation of the mean ranking (MR) obtained via the five-point Likert scale were used. The results confirmed that the green chemistry approach with the theme of the use of diluted nitric acid, through PBL, allowed the student to integrate new knowledge, in a critical, creative, and collaborative way. In addition, it is inferable that the didactic strategy provided favorable conditions and fundamental experiences for the formation of future conscious and reflective chemical professionals of their actions.
