Resumo
The Brazilian mining industry is of great importance to the economy of the country, being responsible for much of exports and job creation. With the changes in the world economic scenario and crises that have affected Brazil, there is a growing need to use technologies to guide planning and direct investment in improvements, so that companies can increase productivity and efficiency and become more competitive. For this reason, this work proposes the development of a simplified discrete event simulation model for the analysis of improvements in the management of the patio-port system, with the future objective of assisting decision making at tactical and operational level, once which aims at the most constructive form of the modeling project, that is, the step-by-step blocks that can be used in the Arena for the implementation of simulators. The simulator implements the ore unloading part in the dumper, ore transportation through the routes to the yard, the formation of stockpiles, the ore recovery from the stockyard, inserting the iron ore stacking and recovery equipment, and the loading of ships in their berths. Arena software was used to develop the model and analyze inventory turnover, quantity of products shipped, time in line to dock at port and others. Hypothetical scenarios related to different types of ships embarking on the jetty and the increasing frequency of ships arriving at port were considered. The results of the simulations propose different ship loading strategies aiming to increase the operational efficiency of the port-yard.
