- ItemEstudo do efeito da face sobre o equilíbrio de estruturas de contenção de solo reforçado sob condições de trabalho(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2014-06-13) Almeida, Rita de Cássia Morosini Berlich de; Dantas, Bruno Teixeira; Bicalho, Kátia Vanessa; Pires, Patrício José Moreira; Ehrlich, MauricioIn general, analysis methods of reinforced soil retaining walls, under operational conditions, overlook the contribution of the facing panel to the balance of the structure. To study the influence of the facing unit weight and rigidity properties upon the performance of the reinforced soil structures, numerical modeling of several structures are carried out, utilizing a double precision version of the program CRISP92-SC. The use of different types of elements to represent the facing unit is also evaluated. It appears that a rigid facing unit imposes significant reduction of the maximum axial forces along the reinforcements and of displacements of reinforced soil structures. The influence of the specific weight of the facing panel on the internal stability of reinforced soil is shown irrelevant. It is found that the bending stiffness and the axial stiffness of the facing panel, functions of its geometry and its Young´s modulus, are influential parameters on the performance of reinforced soil retaining walls. Variations of the reinforcement stress and of the shear force on the facing panel, resulting from the stiffening of the face, are analyzed and a relationship between them is suggested. Regarding the representation of a facing panel with significant rigidity, the simulation of a reinforced soil structure with CRISP92- SC shows that either the representation by beam, or by quadrilateral elements does not affect the analysis results.
