The specific objectives were: a) to analyze the school’s Political Pedagogical Project with the aim of identifying the curricular conceptions embedded in the document; b) to investigate teachers’ understanding of the curriculum and coloniality; c) to discuss pedagogical practices that include Afro-Brazilian knowledge; and d) to analyze the curricular movements/practices that take place in the daily life of a municipal school. Therefore, the dissertation discusses how coloniality is present in the school’s daily life, through the lack of a decolonial curriculum that addresses historical issues related to the struggles of Black people and other groups to claim their place in society. To support the analysis of the theme of this research, we drew on authors such as Ferraço (2011), Gallo (2013), Silva (2022), Quijano (2007; 2010), Walsh (2007, 2009, 2015), Mignolo (2005), and others. The choice of these theorists allows us to deepen our understanding of coloniality, encompassing its influence on Education, specifically in the school curriculum. In this research, we observed that discussions about Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous cultures are rare in schools, despite being an extremely relevant subject that impacts several aspects of students’ lives. To support this work, we adopted a qualitative research approach, specifically the cartographic intervention-research methodology. Thus, the analysis took place throughout the research, during data production, and in dialogue with theoretical interlocutors. The subjects involved in the research were 21 students from the 2nd-year morning class and 13 school teachers, including the school administrator and the pedagogues. For data production, we used tools such as observation, field notes, conversation networks, and document analysis. The analysis of the school’s Political Pedagogical Project indicated that this document needs to be revised for its functionality to be effective. However, we also observed the absence of curricular planning aimed at building decolonial practices, as well as some resistance movements that occur individually by teachers and students. The conversation networks revealed a diverse understanding of what the curriculum is, but there is a consensus among teachers that the curriculum must respect students’ realities and that there is always something that needs to be expanded. When analyzing the data produced in the conversation networks, we identified specific clues pointing to the intention of implementing a decolonial curriculum in the school. We also observed a desire among the teachers to implement a decolonial approach in the school, on the condition that it stems from collective planning and is developed at the beginning of the year. Moreover, during the research process, we mapped teaching movements opposing the imposition of the BNCC (Common National Curricular Base). The study, therefore, highlights the lack of implementation of Laws No. 10.639/03 and No. 11.645/08 in the participating public school, in the construction of new practices against a “whitened” curriculum. Thus, we observed the presence of racism in the school’s daily life, but some resistance movements are taking place, albeit sporadically. Finally, we verified the need for initial and continuing teacher education within an educational policy aimed at a decolonial curriculum

Its use as a tool, teaching area or methodology can be seen in the resolution of everyday problems or in the development of technology throughout history. This research aimed to present the contributions of Mathematics in the most diverse possible professions, illustrating some meanings for contents that is currently taught up to the 1st year of high school in the state public school system. Through research, it was possible to highlight how Mathematics is inserted in some professions selected by the participants. After applying an initial questionnaire, preparing the work on Mathematics and Professions and data collection through a final questionnaire about this context, the students realized that Mathematics is in fact inserted in the professional scope, in careers that they did not imagine that its use would be important

As this analytical category has become increasingly frequent in left-wing debates, research, and movements, considering its potential for the apprehension of Brazilian reality is essential to those who envision revolutionary praxis. By scrutinizing the criticisms of overexploitation and resorting to classic authors of the debate on national formation – Caio Prado Jr., Florestan Fernandes and Celso Furtado -, it is clear that there are relevant elements to be considered, especially the fact that the colonial and slave-owning past establish, here, particularities with regard to the class regime, the dynamics of the class struggle, the constitution and the value of labor power. Thus, recovering the elements of the past, which are still being reconfigured in contemporary Brazil, at the same time that the perspective of national formation is regated, allows a questioning of super exploitation category itself, as well as prospecting an analysis that rests on the concrete reality of our history and the class struggle aimed at here

On January 17, 2020, the city of Iconha, located in the south of Espírito Santo, suffered the biggest flood of all time, causing significant damage, and leaving 1,919 people left their home, 58 homeless and 4 dead COMPEC (2022). The objective of this work was to evaluate the intensities of sub-daily rainfall occurring in the region of Iconha/ES, compare with the precipitation, duration and frequency curves of the rain gauge station with daily data and generate the hydrograph of the flood of the Iconha river, through the transformation model rain on grid with two-dimensional hydrodynamic flow, considering the rain incident in the river basin varying in time and space through the inverse square distance interpolation method. The information and records confirmed the good security of the model and together with the result of the simulated hydrograph, the existence of distortions in the maximum flow monitoring data from the Iconha River Fluviometric Station was confirmed. Therefore, it is recommended not to use these data for studies of maximum flows, especially with high periods of returns, and it is suggested to use a flood spot and a simulated flow model for adoption in future studies and projects

We assume Álvaro Vieira Pinto and Paulo Freire as theorical lens to discuss Scientific Literacy (SC) conceptions, the background of teachers training to SC and some challengers to science teaching that considers the national reality. The thesis that we advocate is: teachers training and scientific education should be an awareness process about the teaching profession and the science education committed to overcome the underdevelopment and the humanization. We forged the concept of humanizing scientific literacy (HSC) as an educational goal and guide to teachers training and work, highlighting the inquiry based teaching (IBT) like a basis of investigative praxis. We assumed HSC as a training pre-project to create and implement a formative process aims to understand the awareness development of participants. We realized a training-research in the second semester of 2022, using the narrative presuppositions to contemplate internal and external ways of formation. It has been done in the supervised practice of biological sciences' teacher preparation course, with 11 students. For the data lifting, we used: record the audio of classes; the students produced reports, memorial and plans for science teaching; field diary of trainers; discussions in the WhatsApp group; and course documents. We used the Scene understanding to qualitatively interpret the narratives of students. The scenes show the course elaboration process, considering the totality of conditionate factors as the return of presential teaching; few days to teaching in the schools; the electoral contest; and the football world’s cup. We faced the contradictory background of be and not to be a good moment to do the HSC in the initial teachers training. In the course history, the classes had been a high political level. We observed: the shaped of social sensibility for the problems of national reality; the critical reading of scholar reality; and a collective work to face the challenge of study and create IBT lessons. The pedagogical mediation of trainers had been attentive to context challenges and helped the construction of investigative praxis locus. The reports analyses show the idiosyncratic character of awareness. Each participant related the HSC and IBT presuppositions with own socio-historical basis. We understand that HSC is a viable pre-project to teachers training and hope more trainers using it in all steps of teachers training

Although the PSE has proven to be an important health strategy, its implementation has not yet reached its full potential, with one of the most notable weaknesses being intersectorality. Objectives: This dissertation aimed to analyze the PSE as a health promotion strategy and had the following specific objectives: to describe the implementation and results of the PSE in Brazil through a scoping literature review; to analyze the correlation between social inequalities, organization of health services, epidemiological indicators, and PSE outcomes in the municipalities of the state of Espírito Santo (ES) between 2019 and 2022; and to develop a manual to support the execution and monitoring of PSE results by Brazilian municipalities. Methods: This is a qualitative-quantitative study divided into three stages. In the first stage, a scoping review of the literature on the implementation and results of the PSE in Brazil between 2007 and 2022 was conducted. In the second stage, an ecological study was performed using public secondary data. The dependent variable considered the set of goals agreed upon in the adherence to the PSE in each cycle and was constructed with data from SISAB. The result was correlated with social variables, organization of health services, and epidemiological indicators. In the third stage, an e-book containing information on the execution and monitoring of PSE results for Brazilian municipalities was developed. Results: The scoping review revealed weaknesses in the implementation of the PSE across the country, namely: in the structure, there is insufficient training on the program's objectives, a shortage of professionals, and work overload; in the process, there is an absence of situational diagnosis and intersectoral planning, fragmented activities, and the health sector's leading role; and in the results, there were improvements in access to health services, increased adherence to the program, and perceived improvements in students' habits and learning. The ecological study showed that municipalities in ES had difficulties meeting the program's goals, especially in 2020, the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Metropolitan Health Region achieved better results in the four years evaluated; a correlation was observed between social variables (HDI, CadÚnico, IDEB, and illiteracy rate), health system variables (Basic Care Coverage and Previne Brasil ISF), and epidemiological variables (Poliomyelitis Vaccination Coverage) with better PSE outcomes. The health sector was noted as the main participant in activities compared to the education sector. In the third stage, an e-book was developed containing information about the PSE, proposed methodologies to be employed in activities, and tools for monitoring its results. Conclusions: Both the literature review and the ecological study showed that municipalities face difficulties in developing the activities agreed upon in the cycles. These findings highlight the need for improvements in the program's implementation, addressing its structural and procedural weaknesses to enhance its desired outcomes and impacts. It is hoped that the developed manual will contribute to this process
- ItemAnálise ecológica dos dados de óbito por tuberculose no Espírito Santo(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2024-08-16) Oliveira, Yasmin Gurtler Pinheiro de; Catão, Rafael de Castro ; https://orcid.org/; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; Co-orientador2; https://orcid.org/; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; Co-orientador3; https://orcid.org/; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; Co-orientador4; ID do co-orientador4; Lattes do co-orientador4; Prado, Thiago Nascimento do ; https://orcid.org/; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; Orientador2; https://orcid.org/; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; https://orcid.org/; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; Cola, João Paulo ; https://orcid.org/; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; Vieira, Anne Caroline Barbosa Cerqueira ; https://orcid.org/; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; 3º membro da banca; https://orcid.org/; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; 4º membro da banca; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; 5º membro da banca; https://orcid.org/; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; 6º membro da banca; https://orcid.org/; http://lattes.cnpq.br/; 7º membro da banca; https://orcid.org/; http://lattes.cnpq.br/Introduction: Tuberculosis is still a challenge for the world and is the second leading cause of death from infectious diseases. Not unlike the world scenario, Brazil has also been seeking strategies to tackle tuberculosis in order to reduce the number of new cases and deaths from the disease. To this end, ecological studies have been developed in Brazil as a tool for analyzing the points of highest incidence and prevalence of a disease in the territory, as well as a tool used to evaluate the temporal trend of the disease, showing the places that present the greatest risks for the development and worsening of a disease. Objectives: To identify in the scientific literature the methods used for ecological analysis of deaths from tuberculosis in Brazil between 2018 and 2024. To analyze the quality of data on tuberculosis care services in the municipalities of the state of Espírito Santo using information from the forms, especially the completeness of data from the notification forms in the Compulsory Notifiable Diseases Information System with the outcome of deaths from the disease, between 2015 and 2019. Methods: The PICOS search strategy and the PRISMA research protocol were used to carry out a literature review of ecological studies that addressed the topic of tuberculosis deaths and the methods adopted by the scholars. The period analyzed was from 2018 to 2024 and used the Scielo, PubMed and LILACS databases. As for the spatial analysis, this is an ecological, descriptive and exploratory study, which involved secondary data from the compulsory tuberculosis notification forms of the Compulsory Notifiable Diseases Information System made available by the Espírito Santo State Health Department. In order to assess the completeness of the information, the 2003 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention classification was used, classifying completeness as “poor”, “fair” and “excellent”. Maps were created showing the distribution of completeness in the territory of Espírito Santo in order to see which places filled in the notification forms better or worse. Results: Sixteen articles were eligible, addressing the theme of tuberculosis death in the Brazilian territory, published between 2018 and 2024. The authors used secondary data from DATASUS, mostly Mortality Information System data. Among Brazil's macro-regions, the Northeast was the territory with the most publications. The Global and Local Moran's Index was the most used method in the 13 sample, as was the spatial scanning method. Finally, all the studies presented the relationship between the territory and social determinants as an outcome. As for the completeness analysis, the total number of tuberculosis notifications closed as “TB deaths” was 347 cases, of which 271 met the eligibility criteria (not presenting the “post-mortem” entry type). The majority of cases were male, aged between 50 and 60, of brown race/color, with incomplete schooling. The state of Espírito Santo had a fair rating for the completeness of the information on the variables analyzed and the Metropolitan Region of Vitória had a poor and fair rating for the completeness of the data on the tuberculosis notification form. Conclusions: In relation to the findings of the integrative literature review, it was observed that the tools of ecological spatial analysis are reflected in maps that show the scenario of the territory and how it is possible to evaluate the temporal trend of the region of analysis. Therefore, this type of scientific method has been developed in regions where death from tuberculosis is still an alarming factor for public health, contributing to the interpretation and analysis of space in relation to the disease. With the ecological analysis of the completeness of the data from the tuberculosis notification forms that had the outcome “death from tuberculosis”, it was observed that the completeness of the data directly affects the demonstration of death in the municipalities of Espírito Santo, hindering epidemiological analysis of the population. In addition, it was observed that the flow of notifications in the territory is centralized in the state capital, with the municipality of Vitória having more notifications than residents who died from the disease. In view of this, the findings of this study emphasize the need to analyze the collective in order to help devise health strategies for dealing with tuberculosis. To this end, it is suggested that future studies explore ecological methods for analyzing the behavior of tuberculosis deaths in space and that measures and flows be planned and audited

For this purpose, a systematic review was carried out identifying the normative acts that deal with residential condominiums and charging for management services, and the aspects that influence the Willingness To Pay (WTP) for these services. In addition, a case study was conducted in the municipality of Vitória/ES, identifying through a questionnaire and the Contingent Valuation Method, the WTP for Waste Management in condominiums, and estimating the financial impact with the application of a transfer policy of responsibility. From the systematic review it was identified that there is no specific Brazilian legislation for charging for management services in residential condominiums. It was also identified that the influential variables in WTP are divided into four groups: (1) socioeconomic aspects, (2) informational level, (3) situation of management services, and (4) political and regulatory aspects, being the last still little studied despite representing a strong influence on WTP. The case study revealed that 58% of the interviewees living in condominiums are willing to pay an average of R$ 29.41 per month per household for management services, and this amount could be increased by 15% by disclosing information about the WTP. Finally, it was identified that the costs of waste management in residential condominiums correspond to around 23% of the entire SWM cost in Vitória/ES, and that the application of a responsibility transfer policy can relieve 19% of the costs. This work contributes to the development of policies for charging for waste management services in residential condominiums, describing the WTP, and the importance of disclosing information for greater acceptance of the policy. Due to the low adherence of interviewees, future studies are recommended to construct statistically representative scenarios and econometric models, which allow the calculation of the WTP and the assessment of the financial impact

In this context, adsorption by activated carbon has gained attention as an alternative for removing microcontaminants in water treatment. Several variables can influence adsorption, one of the most notable being the competition among multiple contaminants for the adsorption sites on the activated carbon. This work conducted a systematic review guided by the PRISMA guideline to establish the state of the art on competitive adsorption. The review data were obtained using the keywords “Competitive adsorption,” “Powder Carbon” “Activated Carbon,” and “Water Treatment,” covering the years 2000 to 2023. The selected articles were categorized into: competition between metals, competition between metals and organic compounds, and competition between organic compounds. The review results contributed to understanding the existing research gaps in the field. In the laboratory tests, the activated carbon was characterized by several techniques to identify functional groups, porosity, moisture content, and ash content, among other parameters. Then, the isolated and competitive removal of two highly commercialized herbicides in Brazil, atrazine and 2,4-D, was tested in the state of Espírito Santo, with adsorption evaluated in terms of kinetics and isotherms. The Freundlich model showed the best fit for both pesticides in isolated systems. The adsorption of 2,4-D was significantly affected by the presence of atrazine due to its hydrophilic nature in the study's pH range (6-7). A computational study was conducted to suggest potential mechanisms, and the results indicated a predominance of π-π interactions, which is consistent with findings in the literature. The results suggest that the commercial carbon from Bahia Carbon is a strong candidate for removing 2,4-D and atrazine in isolated systems, but the presence of atrazine may significantly affect the removal of 2,4-D

However, this use is not without risks. In this context, the Pharmacotherapeutic Follow-up Service (FHS) has emerged as a strategy capable of improving the health outcomes of people with AH. However, there are few high-research studies on this subject. Objective: To assess the impact of FAS on the health outcomes of patients with AH in the health care network in the municipality of Alegre/ES. Method: This is an experimental single-blind randomized controlled clinical trial. People with hypertension who met the eligibility criteria (over 18 years of age, with self-reported hypertension, taking medication for hypertension for at least 6 months) were randomized in a 1:1 ratio to the intervention and control groups. They received FAS and usual care, respectively, for a period of 12 months. The study was conducted in the Health Care Network of the municipality of Alegre, Espírito Santo, Brazil, from January 2022 to November 2023. In both groups, primary outcomes (blood pressure and quality of life) and secondary outcomes (knowledge about hypertension, anthropometric profile and clinical examinations) were assessed at three points in time, six months apart. Ethical considerations were observed (CAAE registration number 13586319.6.0000.8151 | Opinion no. 4.732.878). Results: 128 patients were allocated to the intervention group (64) and the control group (64). Statistically significant differences were observed in the intra-group analysis in the intervention group, including SBP (∆ = -9.47 mmHg, p = 0.014), Total Cholesterol (∆ = -18.93 mg/dL, p = 0.001), LDL (∆ = -15.70 mg/dL, p < 0.001), non-HDL cholesterol (∆ = -19.76 mg/dL, p < 0.001) and cardiovascular risk (∆ = -1.82 points, p < 0.001). There was an increase in the score for knowledge about hypertension (∆ = 1.39 points, p < 0.001), an improvement in quality of life in the mental state subdimension (∆ = -2.76 points, p = 0.020) and somatic manifestations (∆ = -1.5 points, p = 0.012). In the control group, it was possible to observe an increase in the score for knowledge about hypertension (∆ = 1.52 points, p = 0.001) and an improvement in the VAS of the EQ5D (∆ = 10.33 points, p = 0.067). In addition, almost all the patients were satisfied or very satisfied with the service provided by the pharmacists. Conclusion: The results show a promising positive impact of FAS on clinical and humanistic parameters, as well as a reduction in cardiovascular risk for negative events over the next ten years. This study was registered with The Brazilian Clinical Trials Registry (ReBEC) under registration number: RBR-4c53f3m.

An alternative for reusing this residue is its application as a substrate in solid state fermentation (SSF) to obtain products with high added value, such as cellulases. In this context, the present work aimed to evaluate the potential of fresh coffee husk and pre-treated by alkaline solution in microwave, as an inducer in the production of cellulases by SSF using the fungus Aspergillus fumigatus. Cultivation conditions related to moisture content (50 – 70 %) and substrate content (60 – 80 %) were evaluated using a DCCR experimental design. Tests with in natura and pre-treated CC obtained FPase activities of 1,046 U/gms and 2,315 U/gms, respectively, after 120 hours of FES under conditions of 70 % CC and 70% humidity. Statistical analyzes demonstrated that moisture content is the parameter with the greatest influence on cellulase production by A. fumigatus, and conditions of 68 to 70% provide greater FPase activities. Enzymatic partial characterization showed that the crude enzyme extract has stability under conditions of pH 5 – 6 and 40 – 60 °C. In addition, Cu2+ , Co2+ , and Mn2+ ions can be used as cofactors. The enzymatic hydrolysis test of CC with the crude enzyme extract provided 1,5 g/L reducing sugars after 48 hours. These results highlight the potential of cellulases produced by A. fumigatus for industrial applications

However, studies on its implementation in Brazilian schools are still scarce and focus on the use of English as an additional language (Landau, Albuquerque Paraná and Siqueira, 2021). Porcellato points to the potential of this approach in Brazil, despite the fact that there is little research on the subject. In the CLIL approach, one of the benefits that students gain, according to Gracia (2015), is motivation to learn both the content and the additional language. This research was motivated by my experience as an English language teacher and my interest in the CLIL approach. The aim of this study is to analyze the production of knowledge about the CLIL approach in Basic Education in Brazil through a metaresearch carried out with theses and dissertations from the CAPES Catalogue of Theses and Dissertations. Twenty papers were found from 2015 to 2023 and three of them made up the corpus of analysis of this research, since they discuss the CLIL approach in Basic Education in Brazil. The CLIL approach and the challenges in implementing this approach were analyzed, as well as the relationship between English language teaching and the CLIL approach. According to the analysis, the main potential of the CLIL approach is to make learning more meaningful by integrating content and language and to increase learner motivation. Lack of specific teacher training and lack of appropriate teaching materials were the main challenges pointed out. I hope that this study will encourage reflections on the importance of research into the CLIL approach, seeking to contribute to the strengthening of this field of research and action, as well as to the development of educational linguistics proposals that are meaningful for teachers and learners, taking into account the needs of the context and opening up new possibilities through education

Its significance extends beyond economic aspects, encompassing cultural and social dimensions, forging a deep connection between communities and the environment. Despite its crucial role, the generation of waste from fish processing poses a significant challenge for the fishing sector. The current management of this waste is characterized by worrying irregularities, leading to substantial negative environmental impacts. This inadequate management not only jeopardizes the quality of marine ecosystems but also contributes to large-scale environmental manipulation. This research delves into the critical role of artisanal fishing in the environmental impacts associated with fishing activities in the municipality of Marataízes, Espírito Santo. The primary objective is to evaluate the environmental impacts resulting from the irregular disposal of waste from artisanal fishing in the Barra do Itapemirim and Pontal ports, located in the municipality of Marataízes. The methodology employed in this study integrates both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Initially, the evaluation of the artisanal fishermen's profile involved the application of questionnaires, following a documentary methodological approach. This stage encompassed aspects identified in the diagnosis, including the disposal of waste resulting from fish processing. To analyze the composition of the generated waste, physical, chemical, and nutritional characterizations were performed, providing a comprehensive understanding of the waste generated in the process. The results and analyses of this research enabled the characterization of the fishermen's profile and fishing activities in the studied communities. Furthermore, it was possible to understand the composition of fish waste, noting the significant presence of lipids, proteins, and energy. It was also identified that the continuous disposal of this waste is causing significant environmental impacts due to the high concentration of the parameters found. This made it possible to suggest measures for the reuse of this waste, such as the production of fishmeal, aiming to mitigate these impacts and promote a more sustainable use of available resources

However, controlling their high chemical reactivity at the edges, due to its zig-zag edge configuration, remains a challenge from an experimental standpoint. The strategy investigated in this study to address this characteristic is to create an insulating matrix of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) so that the triangulenes can be embedded in the h-BN structure, maintaining their electronic and magnetic properties. Given the size of the studied systems, the Density Functional Theory will be used in all electronic structure calculations. The results revealed that the formation of h-BN or carbon domains is equally possible, and the multiplicities of the ground state are determined solely by the carbon sites, regardless of their position, size, or whether the carbon islands are connected or not. Additionally, Lieb’s Theorem holds true in all cases when considering only the carbon sites, which can be a useful tool in determining the ground state spin of these systems
